The Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation is responsible for EU policy on research, science and innovation, with a view to help create growth and jobs and tackle our biggest societal challenges.

Our Focus

At EU level, and in collaboration with Member States and international partners, we design and implement excellent research and innovation policies and programmes that, together with relevant investment agendas and regulation: aim to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable, fair and prosperous future for people and planet; achieve the desired scientific, technological and societal impact; are based on evidence and the involvement of citizens and innovation ecosystem stakeholders; are implemented in an ethically robust, effective and efficient manner; and focus on European added value.
